Before Ye Ask Him 2

Matthew 6:8b: . . . your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

In addition to God knowing what we need before we ask for it, He knows better than we do what we need. Have you ever prayed for something and God answered your prayer in a better way than you prayed it? I believe He answers our prayers better than we pray them virtually all the time. He knows what we need, when we need it, how much of it we need and when something we pray for would be bad for us.

The evening of the day I received Christ I sat in my easy chair and began reading the Bible under a lamp that did not provide enough light and with my family watching TV in the same room. I was so focused on the Bible that I wasn*t deeply troubled by any of that. I did not pray for it but I had a faint little desire to read the Bible in better circumstances. We had a sofa bed where my wife*s mother would sleep when she spent the night. She loved it. When we got a new sofa bed we gave her the old one. She said: But now I won*t have room for this old desk. She gave the desk to me and it fit nicely in one corner of another room in our home. I bought a desk lamp and had a wonderful private place where I could be alone with my Lord and my Bible. He answered my faint little desire and I knew He had worked it out. I pray that you also have a private place like that or more than one.

The most important thing we needed that He knew about before we were even born or able to ask Him for was a Saviour and He sent the Saviour.

Acts 2:23: Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

Romans 8:32: He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

Jeremiah 1:5: Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Jesus was sometimes alone with His Heavenly Father and we need that.

Mark 1:35: And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

John 6:15: When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.

There are wonderful rewards for those who get alone with Him.

Matthew 6:6: But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

If there are times when you are alone when you do not want to be, try going into His presence. He is always available and you might just learn that you needed to be alone with Him.
